"I was kind of anxious when my orientation was nearing but when the day came it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I remember the several checkpoints I had to pass and at some point considered plastering my admission letter to my forehead. The day progressed, I got to attend several ice breaking sessions in a couple of hours which inevitably led to making some really good friends that I still meet, even to this day.

The sun started to set and everyone gathered for the batch picture. It was a feeling which you can never shake off, like you’re part of something bigger than yourself. The days passed with several events and by the time I started to feel comfortable in this big place which I called home a year later.

Orientation was my first exposure to this big world that’s out there I got to observe so many cultures I was overwhelmed at one point as well but thanks to the friends and the people I met during that week it felt like a breeze to settle in."

"For many the prospect of entering university can be disorienting, stressful, daunting - the mind is abuzz with uncertainties, lost somewhere in a bittersweet realm.

Last year, around this time, I too felt anxious; NUST seemed almost like an solemn entity looming in the distance. However, Orientation of NUST proved to be an initiative that presented itself as a helping hand.

It gave colour and substance to an otherwise numbing experience of stepping into one of the most important phases of one's life, completely clueless. It enabled it's attendees to make lasting connections with their batchmates and get a quick feel of what it truly means to be a NUSTian."
